W spotkaniu II rundy turnieju ATP w Stuttgarcie przegrał 6:7(5), 6:7(5) z 18-letnim posiadaczem dzikiej karty, Dominikiem Stephanem Strickerem.
Stricker to wielka nadzieja szwajcarskiego tenisa. W zeszłym roku wygrał juniorski Roland Garros, a przed kilkoma tygodniami w Genewie zadebiutował w głównym cyklu. I w czwartek pokazał, jak ogromnym dysponuje potencjałem. Mimo niewielkiego doświadczenia, grał jak rutyniarz. Wytrzymał trudne momenty i prezentował wysokim poziom.
Wrocławianin pozostanie jeszcze w Stuttgarcie, by razem z Łukaszem Kubotem rywalizować w deblu.

Eighteen-year-old Dominic Stephan Stricker is proving himself the tie-break king in Stuttgart.
One day after winning two tie-breaks to defeat Radu Albot, the Swiss teen stunned second seed Hubert Hurkacz 7-6(5), 7-6(5) to reach the quarter-finals at the MercedesCup. Stricker will play American Sam Querrey, who ousted Aussie James Duckworth 6-4, 7-6(7), for a spot in the semi-finals.

The World No. 335 received a wild card into this ATP 250, and he has made the most of it in the first grass-court tournament of the season. The Swiss also reached the quarter-finals on his ATP Tour main draw debut three weeks ago in Geneva.
At the start of the season, Stricker was No. 1,168 in the FedEx ATP Rankings. The former junior World No. 3 hit eight aces and saved five of the six break points he faced against Hurkacz, who won his maiden ATP Masters 1000 title this year in Miami.

Hubert Hurkacz reached the fourth round of a Grand Slam for the first time on Saturday as he overcame Alexander Bublik 6-3, 6-4, 6-2 in 87 minutes at Wimbledon.
The 14th seed has not dropped a set this week at SW19 and hit 33 winners, breaking Bublik four times to advance. He will next face second-seeded Russian Daniil Medvedev or former World No. 3 and Wimbledon 2017 finalist Marin Cilic.
‘I felt really good today. Bublik has such a big serve and comes forward, playing drop shots, so it is very tricky to play him,” Hurkacz said. “I think I was serving well, and I tried to stay aggressive, so he would have to be more defensive. This was crucial as I did not want him to dictate the game.
“I had a few tough weeks after Miami, I was probably a little bit tired afterwards. My game was good [throughout], I just needed one match [win] to feel more confident, and I feel I am now playing really well again.”

Hurkacz became Poland's first ATP Masters 1000 champion when he won the Miami Open presented by Itau (d. Sinner) in March. The 24-year-old reached the third round at Wimbledon in 2019 (l. to Djokovic).
In a rain-interrupted clash, Hurkacz found the decisive break when play resumed in the sixth game as Bublik pushed a backhand wide. Hurkacz fired four aces in the set to move ahead and continued to dictate play in the second set, dealing with Bublik’s variety of shots to impose his aggressive game. He won 92 per cent (11/12) of his first-service points in the final set, sealing the win when Bublik hit a backhand long.

Bublik, who enjoyed a run to the quarter-finals at the Viking International Eastbourne last week, has reached the final of the Antalya Open in Turkey (l. to De Minaur) and the Singapore Tennis Open (l. to Popyrin) this year

Kolejny kapitalny mecz Huberta Hurkacza. Życiowy wynik Polaka w wielkoszlemowym turnieju
Hubert Hurkacz w sobotę wygrał trzeci mecz w Wimbledonie 2021 i wciąż pozostaje bez straconego seta. W pojedynku, którego stawką był awans do IV rundy turnieju Wielkiego Szlema, Polak pokonał Aleksandra Bublika z Kazachstanu w trzech setach 6:3, 6:4, 6:2 (więcej TUTAJ).
"Bardzo się cieszę z tego zwycięstwa. Pierwszy raz zagram w drugim tygodniu Wielkiego Szlema.

To będzie mój pierwszy raz. Uwielbiam te korty trawiaste i atmosferę, jaka tu panuje.
