It was confirmed on Friday that the Bryans have clinched the year-end No. 1 Emirates ATP Doubles Team Ranking for a record 10th time and for the sixth consecutive season. After recording their 900th win together in the first round this week, the 35-year-old twins are chasing their 101st team title in Shanghai.
The Bryans have won 30 ATP World Tour Masters 1000 crowns, including four this season at Indian Wells, Miami, Monte-Carlo and Cincinnati, and are through to the Shanghai final for the first time.
In the final, the Americans will face Roland Garros champions Julien Benneteau and Edouard Roger-Vasselin. The French duo edged Marcel Granollers and Marc Lopez 3-6, 6-4, 10-7 in 83 minutes.
Benneteau and Roger-Vasselin are bidding for their third title of the season, having also lifted the trophy in Marseille (d. Hanley/Marray) to add to victory at Roland Garros, where they had defeated Granollers/Lopez. Their performance this week has guaranteed their place at the Barclays ATP World Tour Finals.
Benneteau is looking to win his third ATP World Tour Masters 1000 doubles crown and his second in Shanghai, having triumphed here five years ago with Jo-Wilfried Tsonga.
The Shanghai Rolex Masters doubles final will stream live on TennisTV beginning at 7:00am CEST / 1:00am EDT on Sunday.
