Experienced duo Pierre-Hugues Herbert and Nicolas Mahut built on the impressive work undertaken by Arthur Rinderknech and Adrian Mannarino to book France’s spot in the Davis Cup Finals.

Heading into the action at the Palais des Sports on Saturday, France led 2-0. In a dominant performance, Herbert and Mahut dispatched Gonzalo Escobar and Diego Hidalgo, 6-1, 7-6(3), to ensure qualification was quickly secured. Hebert and Mahut have won 21 tour-level titles together, including five Grand Slam trophies and two Nitto ATP Finals crowns.

Herbert/Mahut Top Seeds: After the defence of their 2021 Roland Garros crown ended in a first-round exit in Paris last week, Pierre-Hugues Herbert and three-time singles champion Nicolas Mahut look to bounce back as the top seeds in ‘s-Hertogenbosch. In the draw with the 2015 finalists are the leading doubles team in the Pepperstone ATP Doubles Team Rankings, Wesley Koolhof and Neal Skupski. The second seeds arrive in the Netherlands for their first event together on grass having clinched four ATP Tour titles in 2022.

Herbert/Mahut Reach QFs In ’s-Hertogenbosch

Pierre-Hugues Herbert and Nicolas advanced to their second quarter-final of the season Thursday, moving past Gijs Brouwer and Tim Van Rijthoven 7-6(7), 6-4 at the Libema Open in ‘s-Hertogenbosch.

The top seeds, who lifted the trophy in Montpellier in February, saved two set points in the first-set tie-break before sealing victory after 86 minutes at the ATP 250 grass-court event.

The Frenchmen will next play Raven Klaasen and Marcelo Melo after the South African-Brazilian team downed Belgians Sander Gille and Joran Vliegen 7-6(13), 6-4. Prior to this week, Klaasen and Melo last teamed in 2015, winning titles in Tokyo and Shanghai.

Mahut/Roger-Vasselin Advance In Eastbourne
At the Rothesay International in Eastbourne, Nicolas Mahut and Edouard Roger-Vasselin were 6-4, 7-6(8) winners against Top 50 singles stars Alejandro Davidovich Fokina and Pedro Martinez. Mahut and Roger-Vasselin are chasing their second title together on grass after their triumph in Newport in 2013.
