Nick Kyrgios wytłumaczył się z poddania meczu w Szanghaju
Spoiler:
I słowa dotrzymał.
Chciałem utrzymać wysoką formę z ostatnich tygodni i w dobrym stylu zakończyć sezon. Jeszcze się o to postaram - powiedział Kyrgios.
W drugiej rundzie turnieju Steve Johnson zmierzy się z reprezentantem gospodarzy Di Wu.
Nick Kyrgios' season ends early due to troublesome hip injury By Sky Sports Tennis
Spoiler:
Nick Kyrgios’ season has come to an abrupt end due to a hip injury.
The world No 20 is the latest high-profile player to see his season come to a premature end. Andy Murray, Novak Djokovic and Stan Wawrinka have all had their seasons cut short due to injury, while former world number four Tomas Berdych also ended his 2017 campaign on Thursday due to a back injury.
Kyrgios said he was withdrawing from the remainder of the campaign in the hope of being fully fit for a fresh assault on the 2018 Australian Open in January.
"Unfortunately due to the reoccurrence of my hip injury which I originally suffered at Queen's, I am shutting down my season to make sure I can rehab and prepare as best as I possibly can for the Australian summer," Kyrgios said in a statement on Twitter.
The Australian injured his hip at Queen's

"Unless I want this to escalate into an injury that requires surgery, I need to listen to my body and my team."
He added: "This year hasn't been as successful as I would have liked, especially at the Slams.
"It's no secret that I have had some sad moments to deal with away from the court which have added to my disappointments throughout the year."
Kyrgios' last match was on Wednesday when he lost in the second round in Antwerp to home favourite Ruben Bemelmans.
Last week, he was fined $10,000 after storming off midway through his first-round match at the Shanghai Masters. That incident followed him being hit with a point penalty in losing the final in Beijing to Rafael Nadal.
Earlier this year, Kyrgios shelved the start of his clay court season to return to Australia after his grandfather passed away.
Kyrgios endured a bittersweet season on the court, losing in the second round of the Australian and French Opens before first round exits at Wimbledon and the US Open.
But he also made the final of the Cincinnati Masters and helped Australia reach the Davis Cup semi-finals.
There was brilliance. There always is. There were injuries, so more of the same there, too. No titles, and no grand run into the second week of a major, but two finals including a first at Masters 1000 level in Cincinnati, wins over Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic, and a role in one of the ATP’s matches of the year - against Roger Federer in Miami.
If his friend and Davis Cup captain, Lleyton Hewitt, is fond of saying that Davis Cup is responsible for the highest highs and the lowest lows of a player’s career, then Kyrgios experienced some of that, as well. He carried a 3-0 singles record from Australia’s first two ties into the semi-final in Belgium, won on day one, lost on day three, and left no-one in any doubt how much all of it meant.
“2017 has been a year of ups and downs for me and one I will look to improve on in 2018, but the real highlight in 2017 for me was having the opportunity to pull on the green and gold in Davis Cup alongside an unbelievable captain in Lleyton Hewitt and a great group of guys as team mates,’’ Kyrgios says. "Davis Cup was my only goal this year and I poured my heart in to it, and I will do so again in 2018 in the hope we can go on and win it for Australia."
Nick Kyrgios is Australian's top-ranked male player and finished the 2017 ranked N0.21
Indeed, it was the fraternal camaraderie of Davis Cup that Kyrgios credited for rekindling his waning desire for tennis, following a difficult end to 2016 that carried over into a controversial second-round exit from the Australian Open, via a 10-8 fifth set against Italian Andreas Seppi.
A self-described “dark place” became a much brighter one with the help of the Canberran’s tennis friends. The call that changed everything was from Hewitt. The invitation: to the pre-Davis Cup camp in Melbourne ahead of the Kooyong tie against the Czech Republic. The timing: perfect.
“I went and spent a week with my girlfriend and then ‘Rusty’ called me up and he really wanted me to play Davis Cup and that was the best thing I could have done,” Kyrgios said in March. “Just coming back and being with the boys. I just found some enjoyment practising again. I don’t know what happened. Something switched and now I’m really enjoying it again. We still talk to this day, the whole Davis Cup team. That’s helped me the most. Having some people on my side. They have my back. That’s been key."
Soon enough, there were back-to-back wins over Novak Djokovic in Acapulco and at Indian Wells during a pre-clay surge, only for injury to intervene mid-season in the form of three successive retirements at Queen’s, Wimbledon and Washington. In the end, there were just two match wins at Grand Slam level for a player who player who started at 13th and finished at 21st with a 31-14 singles record.
The bar is high, and even Kyrgios admits he didn’t clear it as he would have liked, but the upside is that, at 22, the year still delivered four wins against top 10 opponents, continued what should be a fascinating rivalry with contemporary Alexander Zverev and confirmed a heart that bleeds green and gold. So much upside. So much still ahead for the outrageously talented 22-year-old. A compelling story, from every angle. As always.

Nowi trenerzy i nowe nadzieje Richarda Gasqueta
Nick Kyrgios to wielki pasjonat koszykówki.
Uważam, że łatwo by mnie pokryli.

Nick Kyrgios to remain without a coach in 2018 as he looks to put 2017 woes behind him
Spoiler:
Kyrgios, 22, said he believes has put enough rehabilitation into a hip injury which dogged much of his 2017 campaign.
He says he has curtailed the amount of off-season basketball he’s played for fun in the past because he’s realised that it does not help his body withstand the tennis grind.
Kyrgios, world No.21, starts his season at the Brisbane International from Sunday week and had a light-hearted hit at Pat Rafter Arena with girlfriend Ajla Tomljanovic, the fourth-ranked Australian woman.
He ran out of petrol in a five-set loss to Italian Andreas Seppi in the first week of the 2017 Australian Open and has not made the quarter-finals of a Grand Slam tournament since the 2015 Australian Open.
Nick Kyrgios of Australia hits a return during his men's singles semi-final match against Alexander Zverev earlier this year
“I feel more ready than I did last year. I’ve taken care of my body a bit more,’’ Kyrgios said.
“I have been doing rehab every day. It’s where I think my discipline has improved. It (his hip) feels pretty good.
“I am looking after a lot of things better, looking after my diet better, training a bit harder in the gym and doing a lot of rehab.
“I feel I’ve done everything I can (to have a good Australian summer). I have time to find my feet.
“If anything I played too much basketball and had too many niggles.
“I know playing basketball is great for my body.
“I had a month and half off. It’s never long enough really, but I trained hard (early this month in Melbourne) with the Australian Davis Cup guys.’’
Kyrgios had Frenchman Sebastien Grosjean travel to some tournaments with him as a coach, but the player who marches to the beat of his drum he intends to have no coach with him at tournaments.
He will be able to tap into the knowledge of Australian Davis Cup captain Lleyton Hewitt and coach Jason Stoltenberg in tournaments in Brisbane and Melbourne.

After an informal association with the retired Czech player Radek Stepanek at a couple of tournaments, he did nothing to change Stepanek’s mind when he was sought as a coach by Novak Djojkovic for the new season.
I don’t have a coach. I will go about my thing, the same I did this year.
“I wasn’t looking at anyone. Radek helped me a little bit. I’m not surprised Novak hired him. He has great knowledge.
“I think I know how to play the game pretty well. I can always learn new things, but I don’t know about bringing someone on.
“I’ve done it pretty much all alone the past three years. To bring someone in on. It’s tough to know if they are just doing it for the sake of getting some cash or if they have best interests at heart.
“I’m not looking for someone willing to guide me and so far I haven’t found anyone to meet those requirements as a fulltime coach.’’
Sightings of top male players practising tennis with their girlfriends are not thick on the ground.
“It’s when I’m with her that I am at my happiest,’’ said Kyrgios, who went to Hawaii last month to support Tomljanovic, the world No.118, at a women;’s tournament.
“It’s good to have her around. It’s good to see her healthy again after being out of the game for so long.’’
Asked if he let her win in practice, he said: “Not all the time, no.’’
Nick Kyrgios admits he has no plans to link up with a full-time coach ahead of new season
Spoiler:
Nick Kyrgios has revealed he has no immediate plans to work with a full-time coach in the new season.
The Australian was forced to withdraw from the end of the 2017 season due to a long-standing hip injury and failed to progress past the second round at all four Grand Slams.
Kyrgios worked with former world No 4 Sebastien Grosjean this year on a part-time basis but confirmed to reporters on Wednesday that he wants to go it alone and is yet to find a coach who has his "best interests".
"I haven't got a coach and I think I'm just going to go about my thing the same way that I did this year," he said.
"I've pretty much done it all alone the last three years to get to a career high of 13.
"To bring someone on, it's tough to know whether they're just doing it for the sake of getting a bit of cash or rather have best interests at heart.

Kyrgios, the world No 21, and Novak Djokovic will headline an eight-man field at a Tie Break Tens event at the Margaret Court Arena at Melbourne Park, host of the sport's first Grand Slam, on January 10.
"Tie Break Tens is a great format and really suits my game style," said Kyrgios about the innovative event which sees each match last for one tiebreak, with the first player to 10 points winning.
"I am looking forward to having some fun with it and I reckon the crowds will really get into it. It will be the perfect chance for fans to see some high-quality tennis before the Australian Open starts."

Meanwhile, Djokovic, who has not played since Wimbledon, is set to make his comeback appearance from an elbow injury at an exhibition tournament in Abu Dhabi later this month as he prepares for a record seventh Australian Open title.
The quickfire event, which has already had successful editions in London, Vienna and Madrid, will see the winner pocket £187,000 (US$250,000).
Kyrgios begins his season at the Brisbane International presented by Suncorp
There has never been a question about Nick Kyrgios’ talent. But now the Australian is more determined than ever to make the most of it and continue his rise up the ATP World Tour. He will debut in the main draw of the Brisbane International presented by Suncorp, which will take place from 31 December through 7 January.
“I’m training much harder in the gym, so hopefully my body gets stronger and I can go deeper into tournaments on a more consistent basis,” Kyrgios said. “I’m taking much better care of my body now, and I feel like I’m giving myself the best possible chance of winning tennis matches. My hip isn’t troubling me and I’m being more disciplined with my rehab, so hopefully the hard work starts to pay off.”
The right-hander was hampered by a hip injury toward the end of the 2017 season, losing in the first round of three of his final four tournaments before ultimately cutting his campaign short after the European Open in Antwerp. The three-time ATP World Tour champion has been open about spending time on the basketball court for fun despite having some niggles.
“Playing lots of basketball wasn’t great for my body, people have told me that and I’m now starting to listen,” Kyrgios said. “So I’m feeling fit, healthy and as motivated as I have for a while. I feel much more ready to go and play good tennis than I did this time last year. I’ve also improved my diet, all the things you need to do to be at your best.”
Kyrgios got a practice session in on Wednesday at Queensland Tennis Centre, the home of the Brisbane International presented by Suncorp. He last appeared in Brisbane five years ago, losing in the first round of qualifying against compatriot James Duckworth.
The 22-year-old is plenty familiar with the facility ahead of his first main draw appearance at the tournament.
“I’ve also trained here in the off-season in the past, so I feel very comfortable out here,” Kyrgios said. “It’s a great tournament with a very strong field again this year, so I’m very excited. It’s great preparation for the Australian Open, but I’m not thinking about the A.O. or any other tournament at the minute. I’m just focused on getting my year off to a good start here in Brisbane.”
Other players competing in the event include Rafael Nadal, the No. 1 player in the Emirates ATP Rankings, Andy Murray and Nitto ATP Finals champion Grigor Dimitrov, who won in Brisbane last season.
Kyrgios's most recent appearance was at a charity exhibition against Juan Martin del Potro on 15 December in Argentina. The Australian donated $100,000 of his appearance fee straight to his NK Foundation, which strives to both increase access to and provide sport to underprivileged & disadvantaged youth.
ATP ACES For Charity: Nick Kyrgios
While Kyrgios has not set any goals or completed his full schedule for 2018 just yet, he is excited about doing two things in particular.
“My main goals are just to stay healthy and play as much tennis as I can,” Kyrgios said.
