Kontinen/Peers save 6 M.P. to advance on Friday
Ivan Dodig and Filip Polasek completed first-round doubles action at Wimbledon by winning their darkness-delayed match against No. 10 seeds Jamie Murray and Neal Skupski. When play resumed on Friday, Dodig/Polasek wrapped up the 2-6, 7-6(2), 3-6, 6-1, 6-4 comeback.
The loss spoiled a potential all-Murray encounter as Jamie and brother Andy Murray (w/Herbert) could have met in the third round. Dodig has enjoyed success before at The All England Club, finishing runner-up in 2013 with Marcelo Melo (l. to Bryan/Bryan).

Eighth seeds Henri Kontinen and John Peers produced the comeback of the tournament so far. Trailing by two sets and 4-5 to Robert Lindstedt and Tim Puetz, they saved six match points to prevail 4-6, 6-7(1), 7-6(9), 6-3, 6-4.
Kontinen/Peers saved three match points in the third set at 4-5, another at 5-6 and two more in the tie-break at 6/7 and 8/9. After their incredible escape, they needed five match points of their own before advancing after four hours of play.

Top seeds Lukasz Kubot and Marcelo Melo defeated Aussies Alex de Minaur and Matt Reid 6-7(11), 6-4, 6-3, 7-6(10). Kubot/Melo squandered four set points in the first-set tie-break, but saved four set points in the fourth-set tie-break to prevail in three hours and 26 minutes.
Colombians Juan Sebastian Cabal and Robert Farah, seeded second, moved past Kazakhs Alexander Bublik and Mikhail Kukushkin 4-6, 6-2, 6-2, 6-1. Third seeds Raven Klaasen and Michael Venus also moved on after a convincing 6-3, 7-6(3), 6-2 win over Aussies Lleyton Hewitt and Jordan Thompson.
Fifth seeds Jean-Julien Rojer and Horia Tecau defeated Fabrice Martin and Hugo Nys 6-1, 6-4, 6-4. The 2015 champions (d. Murray/Peers) are through to the third round without dropping a set.

The other major upset of the day came from Santiago Gonzalez and Aisam-Ul-Haq Qureshi. Three points from defeat in the third set, they fought back to take out fourth seeds Mate Pavic and Bruno Soares 4-6, 4-6, 7-6(5), 6-4, 6-4.
Other seeded teams to advance on Day 5 include No. 11 seeds Nicolas Mahut and Edouard Roger-Vasselin, No. 12 seeds Rajeev Ram and Joe Salisbury and No. 16 seeds Robin Haase and Frederik Nielsen. Nielsen took the title here in 2012 (w/Marray) and Mahut did the same in 2016 (w/Herbert).
