The BNP Paribas Open, the most-attended ATP World Tour and WTA tennis tournament in the world to be held March 3-16, 2014 at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden, has launched an app for iPhone and Android and will offer free Wi-Fi throughout the site during the event, it was announced today by Steve Simon, tournament director.
The app, now available in the respective app stores, will offer features such as live streaming of up to four broadcast courts (only on-site); promotional notifications; live stats of all matches; match and practice court schedules; a “find your seat” feature for both Stadium 1 and the new Stadium 2; a site map to help fans find food, shopping and more at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden; photos and videos showing on-court action and exclusive footage; and news, blogs and social media content.
The tournament will also offer free Wi-Fi throughout the site during the tournament, enabling patrons to reliably utilize the app, stream match action, and capture and share content via social media. Two mobile device charging stations have also been installed, with one under each shade structure in the Tennis Garden Village.
"The BNP Paribas Open app is going to enhance the fan experience on-site and beyond,” said Simon. “We recognize that by providing site-wide, reliable and free Wi-Fi we can deliver a way for people to consume the event through their mobile devices, and also share that experience through social media channels to friends, family and more.”
In addition, BNP Paribas Open Radio will return to provide fans from across the globe the opportunity to listen to live play-by-play commentary of Stadium Court matches from Wednesday, March 5 through the finals on Sunday, March 16 at www.bnpparibasopen.com. The service, which will also be part of the app, will be brought to fans by the BBC commentary team of Russell Fuller, Philip Studd, Nick Lester and Gigi Salmon. Colorful match analysis will be provided by Mary Pierce, Mark Woodforde, Jimmy Arias, Corina Morariu, and more.
