Jeśli dobrze liczę, to Federer broniąc tytułu w Melbourne musi liczyć na porażkę Rafy przed ćwierćfinałem, aby zmienić go na jedynce.

Nadal can guarantee he remains at No. 1 following the Australian Open by reaching the quarterfinals. Federer can only return to No. 1 if he wins the title and Nadal loses prior to the quarterfinals.

Rzeczywiście Raful musiał by zrobić mega zjazd by Szwajcar go wyprzedził, szkoda, gdyby Roger został liderem w wieku 37 lat to byłoby epickie.

Who's Going Where In The ATP Rankings After The Australian Open
Spoiler:
Sandgren will experience big jumps next week
The very top will remain unchanged, but the upsets and breakthroughs of the 2018 Australian Open will shake up other sections of the ATP Rankings when the new rankings are released on Monday, 29 January.
At the top of the movers: South Korea's Hyeon Chung, who before this week had never beaten a Top 10 player and has since beaten fourth seed Alexander Zverev and former World No. 1 Novak Djokovic to reach his first Grand Slam quarter-final.

Chung, who is the first South Korean – male or female – to reach a Grand Slam quarter-final, is currently No. 58 but is expected to break the Top 50 no matter what happens when he faces Tennys Sandgren of the U.S. in the quarter-finals.
If Chung improves to 2-0 against Sandgren in their FedEx ATP Head2Head series and makes the semi-final, the 21-year-old will enter the Top 30 for the first time and become the fifth highest Asian in the history of the ATP Rankings (since 1973).

Chung has kept up his impressive play since last November, when he won his maiden ATP World Tour title at the inaugural Next Gen ATP Finals in Milan. “I really had a good finish [to] the season after Milan... [It meant] I could start, really happy, this season with confidence and comfort,” Chung said after beating Djokovic 7-6(4), 7-5, 7-6(3) in the fourth round.

Should Sandgren continue his career-best tournament and beat Chung – the Tennessee native is also playing in his first Grand Slam quarter-final – he will reach the Top 40. Sandgren is projected to crack the Top 55, which would be a new career-high, win or lose against Chung.
“Obviously the first three matches were more than I expected. This one was about as hard-fought as I've ever had a match before,” Sandgren said after beating fifth seed Dominic Thiem in five sets in the fourth round.

Brit Kyle Edmund also is projected to reach a new career-high in the ATP Rankings. The 23-year-old, who faces Bulgarian Grigor Dimitrov on Tuesday for a spot in the semi-finals, should reach the Top 35 and surpass his current career-high of No. 40. If Edmund can overturn his 0-2 record in his FedEx ATP Head2Head series against Dimitrov, he will reach the Top 30.
Czech Tomas Berdych will near the Top 15 after making his seventh Australian Open quarter-final. The man he faces in the semi-finals, however, won't be going anywhere. Second seed Roger Federer will stay at No. 2 in the ATP Rankings regardless of how he does during the remainder of the Aussie fortnight.
Marin Cilic is guaranteed to reach No. 5 and could climb to No. 4 if he makes his first Australian Open final. But his quarter-final opponent, Rafael Nadal, also isn't going anywhere; the World No. 1 will remain No. 1.
Temat rankingu znowu powróci jak Federer wygra Australię, traciłby do Rafy 160 punktów, przed mączką bronił 2045 punktów, Hiszpan ok. 1000. Pozostali by nie istnieli.
