"There are other tournaments in which I would like to win. However, in the end, trophies are just pieces of metal. The main thing that I took from tennis is love. She will remain with me forever, and I am sincerely grateful for this “ - David Ferrer

WTA Rising Star Ajla Tomljanovic took out the last Top 4 seed remaining at the Japan Women's Open Tennis on Friday, beating the No.3 seed, Madison Brengle, in the quarterfinals.
Watch live action from Québec City & Tokyo this week on WTA Live powered by TennisTV!
Tomljanovic, who was the No.7 seed, dropped the first set in just 26 minutes, 6-1, but won the first three games of the second set and first two games of the third en route to a 1-6, 6-3, 6-4 victory.
Things tightened up at the end - Tomljanovic originally led 5-1 in the third before Brengle won three games in a row to close the gap to 5-4, even getting a point for 5-5 - but Tomljanovic closed it out.
Brengle going out means none of the Top 4 seeds at the International-level event will reach their projected semifinal spots - the No.1 seed, Carla Suárez Navarro, and the No.4 seed, Alison Riske, both lost in the first round in Tokyo, while the No.2 seed, Zarina Diyas, was ousted in the second round.
Awaiting Tomljanovic in the semifinals will be Yanina Wickmayer, who also rallied from a set down to win her quarterfinal match, coming back to beat mom-on-tour Kateryna Bondarenko, 3-6, 6-3, 6-4.
Tomljanovic and Wickmayer, currently No.86 but a former No.12, will be playing for the first time.
The other two quarterfinal matches, Hsieh Su-Wei against Magda Linette and No.6 seed Christina McHale against Zheng Saisai in a battle of WTA Rising Stars, took place later in the day on Friday.

Yanina Wickmayer battled back from a set and a break down to beat WTA Rising Star Magda Linette and win her first WTA title since 2010 at the Japan Women's Open Tennis.
After sending the last two seeds remaining packing in the semifinals, Wickmayer beating No.7 seed Ajla Tomljanovic and Linette outdoing No.6 seed Christina McHale, an all-unseeded final was set - and it was Linette who came out stronger, building a 6-4, 2-0 lead, seemingly headed for a straight set win.
"The first set wasn't great for me," Wickmayer said. "I was making too many unforced errors and going for too much. I think I was trying to play too nicely, too pretty. Winning doesn't always have to be pretty. And I also really wanted to win today, so maybe I was a little bit nervous there in the beginning."
Wickmayer steadied herself in a big way from there, though, winning 12 of the next 16 games to prevail over Linette, 4-6, 6-3, 6-3, breaking one last time at love to wrap it up in just over two hours.
"From the second set I was trying to rally and make her play, make her win the points," the Belgian said. "It wasn't my best match of the tournament, but it was efficient, and that's what matters.
"It feels great. It's amazing to win my fourth WTA title. It's been a while since my third one, so it feels very good to lift a trophy up again after a few years. I'm very happy and very excited about it."
Wickmayer's first three WTA titles came at Oeiras and Linz in 2009 and Auckland in 2010. She actually went as high as No.12 in the world in 2010 - she's now No.86, but that's sure to go up after this.
"A lot has happened - it's been five years," Wickmayer commented. "There have been some injuries, but those are just a part of the job, and part of the career. And the level of the tour has been growing as well - there's a lot of tough players out there. It's much tougher to win a tournament these days.
"But going through all of the hard work and tough moments makes winning a lot more special."
Linette, who had also taken out No.2 seed Zarina Diyas this week, was playing her first WTA final.
The doubles final took place on Saturday and saw No.1 seeds Chan Hao-Ching and Chan Yung-Jan crush Japanese wildcards Misaki Doi and Kurumi Nara in straight sets in just 62 minutes, 6-1, 6-2.
The Chan sisters now have five WTA doubles titles together, the second-most WTA doubles titles all-time for a pair of sisters after Serena Williams and Venus Williams - the Williamses have 21 of them.

p against a fellow WTA Rising Star playing her first WTA final, No.5 seed Annika Beck remained calm through a clinical 6-2, 6-2 victory to capture her second career title at the Coupe Banque Nationale.
"I think there's all the time place for some improvement, but especially to have it under pressure in the final and to be able to keep that kind of level makes me really happy," the German said after the match, when asked whether she'd displayed her best tennis to win on Sunday.
Ostapenko had beaten Beck in their two prior encounters (both in 2015) and started the stronger of the two, winning five of the first six points to lead by an early service break. But Beck was undeterred, breaking straight back and, despite facing break points in the seventh game of the opening set, never lost serve again in the 53 minute, straight-set win.
"I was bit nervous before the match," the young Latvian admitted. "I wanted to win so much, and maybe that's why I lost."
The 21-year-old German upset defending champion and No.2 seed Mirjana Lucic-Baroni in three long sets in the semifinals, but showed no ill-effects against Ostapenko, who is guaranteed to crack the Top 100 for the first time in her career on Monday's rankings.
Beck, who will be back inside the Top 50 after this week's result, had to be feeling extra pleased with some new hardware to go along with what she revealed to be a new weapon.
"I just switched to a new racquet; it's my first tournament with the new racquet, so that gives me a lot of confidence.
"We changed something with the balance and strings. I didn't have time to practice a lot with this racquet but I just came here and said, 'okay, let's try!' More than first round can't happen to you, so it just went another way."
Earlier in the day, WTA Rising Stars Barbora Krejcikova and An-Sophie Mestach recovered from a set down to win the doubles title in Québec City, beating Maria Irigoyen and Paula Kania, 4-6, 6-3, 12-10.

By wygrać z Dominiką potrzeba albo perfekcyjnej ofensywy albo anielskiej cierpliwości, by zmusić ją do psucia. Ani jednego ani drugiego nie miała Ana, nie potrafiła też wykorzystać słabszego momentu rywalki.Były dobre forhandy i returny, ale pojawiały się zbyt nieregularnie by dać wygraną. 76 63.
