Bardzo udany był dla mnie dzisiejszy dzień w Metz Swoje mecze wygrali Malisse, Mahut, Tsonga i Gasquet, który błysnął paroma bajecznymi winnerami z fh. Humor trochę psuję mi porażka Kohlschreibera, ale Sijsling to jeden z bardziej lubianych przeze mnie "challengerowców", tak więc nie jest źle.

Co sądzicie o szansach Ramosa w Bukareszcie? Albert ostatnimi miesiącami gra coraz lepiej i moim zdaniem jest bardzo duża szansa na co najmniej połówkę.

Dziś Ramosowi dopisało szczęście, Riba miał w 3. secie 52*, kiedy zaczął mu dokuczać uraz nogi (stąd debel też gładko przegrany). Moim faworytem w kolejnej rundzie jest F.Mayer, ofensywnie i skutecznie sobie poczyna póki co.

METZ FRIDAY PREVIEW – SIX OF TOP EIGHT SEEDS, LED BY FRENCH DUO, IN QUARTER-FINALS
The quarter-finals of the Moselle Open on Friday feature six of the top eight seeds. Overall there are three Frenchmen remaining among the last eight.

In the first match on Centre Court, Dutch qualifier Igor Sijsling makes his ATP World Tour quarter-final debut against No. 4 seed and 2005 champion Ivan Ljubicic of Croatia in a first-time meeting. Sijsling , who is the lowest-ranked player left at No. 148, comes in with a 5-9 career match record in ATP World Tour level play (2-2 this year). The 32-year-old Ljubicic, who is the oldest player remaining, is 9-4 in Metz. He is also the second-oldest player in the Top 50 (behind No. 25 Radek Stepanek). He is trying to reach his second semi-final of the season. In February, he advanced to the semis in Rotterdam.

In the second match, No. 8 seed Gilles Muller of Luxembourg looks to reach his second ATP World Tour semi-final of the season as he faces No. 2 seed and 2004 runner-up Richard Gasquet, who won the last meeting in the third round at Wimbledon in 2005. The Frenchman also won all three previous Challenger meetings in ’03.
Muller is 15-8 on the season and ranked a career-high No. 49. In July, he advanced to the semi-finals in Atlanta (l. to Isner) and in his last tournament he reached the fourth round at the US Open (l. to Nadal). Gasquet owns a 13-5 mark in Metz and he is 33-18 on the season and QF-or better in six tournaments, including this week.

In the evening session, top seed Jo-Wilfried Tsonga takes on countryman Nicolas Mahut, who is making his first ATP World Tour quarter-final showing since July 2009 in Newport. Tsonga won the previous ATP World Tour meeting in Hamburg in May 2008 while Mahut won two French Futures encounters in 2001 and ’03. Tsonga is No. 7 in the ATP year-to-date singles rankings and he’s trying to qualify for one of the remaining four spots in the Barclays ATP World Tour Finals in London. Tsonga is 38-18 on the season and his best results are runner-up showings in Rotterdam (l. to Soderling) in February and the Queen’s Club in London (l. to Murray) in June. Mahut is 9-9 on the season and ranked No. 92. He is trying to reach his first ATP World Tour semi-final since Metz four years ago (l. to Robredo). He is 3-18 lifetime vs. Top 10 opponents and he’s trying to break an 11-match losing streak since defeating No. 2 Rafael Nadal in the quarter-finals at Queen’s Club in June 2007.

In the final match, No. 3 seed Alexandr Dolgopolov of Ukraine and No. 6 Xavier Malisse of Belgium square off for the first time. The 20th-ranked Dolgopolov is making his Metz debut and he comes in with a 33-22 match record on the season. He captured his first career ATP World Tour title in Umag (d. Cilic) on July 31 and was runner-up in Costa do Sauipe (l. to Almagro) in February. He is trying to reach his fifth semi-final or better. Malisse is making his third quarter-final showing or better this year, his first since getting to the semi-finals in ‘s-Hertogenbosch in June. Malisse reached the quarters here last year. Malisse is 22-22 on the season.

Ivan Ljubicic wygrywa 6/4, 6/3 i jako pierwszy awansuje do półfinału turnieju w Metz .

W Bukareszcie tylko jedno miejsce w półfinale zostało nie wiadomą - jak na razie Chela prowadzi 3/2* w pierwszym secie. Wcześniej awans do najlepszej czwórki zapewnili sobie Andujar, Volandri i Mayer (żaden z nich nie stracił ani jednego seta).

Gilles gra teraz najlepszy sezon w karierze i wreszcie osiągnął pozycję na jaką zasługuje, więc może czas na pierwszy tytuł?

Wrócę jeszcze do spotkania Mahut z Tsongą. Pomijając wynik, panowie zagrali bardzo ładny mecz. Ofensywna gra, dużo akcji przy siatce, tak właśnie powinno grac się w halowych warunkach.

Nicolas pomimo porażki zaprezentował się z bardzo dobrej strony i miał szansę na zwycięstwo, jednak w przekroju całego spotkania muszę obiektywnie stwierdzić, że należało się ono jednak bardziej Jo - Wilfriedowi. Jeśli Mahut utrzyma taki poziom gry to spokojnie powinien zdobyć w najbliższych turniejach 60 punktów, które powinno zagwarantować mu miejsce w top 100 na koniec sezonu.

The semi-finals of the Moselle Open on Saturday feature three of the top four seeds. In addition, three of the four are trying to capture their first ATP World Tour title of the season. The four players have combined to hold serve 99 of 103 games this week.I

BUCHAREST SATURDAY PREVIEW - CHELA & ANDUJAR MEET IN SEMI-FINALS, REMATCH OF 2010 FINAL

Three of the Top 4 seeds and an Italian back on the rise are in the final four at the BRD Nastase Tiriac Trophy and they’ll square off on Saturday for berths in the last clay court final of the ATP World Tour season.

The first semi-final features No. 2 seed Florian Mayer against an unseeded Filippo Volandri. These two ATP World Tour veterans are also veterans of this tournament, the 27-year-old Mayer playing here for the sixth time in his career and the 30-year-old Volandri making his eighth appearance here. They have both been this far in Bucharest before, Mayer’s best previous result being a semi-final finish in 2004 and Volandri’s being a runner-up finish in 2006. But while Volandri may have done better on these courts before, Mayer did fare better in the pair’s only previous meeting, a 63 75 victory on this same surface, clay, in Sopot six years ago.

The second semi-final pits No. 1 seed Juan Ignacio Chela against No. 4 seed Pablo Andujar, a rematch of last year’s final. Chela had a dream week at this tournament one year ago, winning the singles title (beating Andujar in the final) and the doubles title too. But Andujar has come a long way since a year ago, when he made it to the final as a No. 105-ranked qualifier - he now has his first ATP World Tour title, at Casablanca earlier this year, and is now ranked a career-high No. 43 in the world. The Spaniard has never beaten Chela though, losing both of their previous ATP World Tour meetings as well as a meeting in the Challengers.

Mayer w finale w Bukareszcie. Niemiec stanie przed kolejną szansę na pierwsze zwycięstwo turniejowe na szczeblu ATP, ale mam wątpliwości, czy Andujar to wymarzony rywal do gry w finale. Ale z obsadą jutrzejszego przeciwnika Niemca jeszcze poczekajmy - Chela walczy.
