Swoją drogą, mimo żenującego poziomu prezentowanego przez Hiszpana w całym turnieju, to hala w Sao Paulo była absolutnie pełna na jego meczach, a na finale wręcz pękała w szwach. Zdaje się, że te dwie bańki startowego były doskonałą inwestycją, która po wielokroć się zwróciła.

Marathon Man
During the ABN AMRO World Tennis Tournament Raemon Sluiter was regularly to be found in Ahoy Rotterdam, where in 2003 he played the final. The Dutchman was also active as an ambassador of the KNLTB’s Tennis Open Days and did commentary work for Radio Rijnmond. (116 km/h) and Arjan Pastoors (210 km/h). The hardest service of a pro player was by Thiemo de Bakker 218 km/h.

Double Dutch
Thiemo de Bakker and Jesse Huta Galung dindn’t win the doubles final, but still enjoyed the atmosphere in Ahoy. "In the final of the Australian Open Robin Haase and Igor Sijsling played for 3,000 spectators, here at Ahoy there were many more", Huta Galung said. "For me this is a dream. I came here as a child, I remember seeing Sampras play here. You can imagine how I felt playing here myself. “

Boom Boom Boris, tournament winner in 1992, was guest of honor at the gala dinner in Ahoy Rotterdam and performed the draw.

Finest point
Gaël Monfils, in the first round against Juan Martin del Potro. With catlike movements the Frenchman reached for a lob, returned the ball narrowly and the Argentine was so surprised he missed.

Special guests
Michaëlla Krajicek visited the tournament on Saturday and Sunday at the invitation of her brother Richard. On the final day were three generations Krajicek in Ahoy, because Richard's son Alec and father Petr were also present.
