Mannarino: "I got tight directly in the beginning of the third set, but I knew I needed to keep my serve. I think that I was fresher than him. I’ve been playing some quicker matches earlier in the week and he had some tough matches. He was a little bit tired, so in the rallies, he was not as patient as he should be. That helped me a lot. Finally, I was able to finish the match. I didn’t get too tight, so that was a good thing for me.

"I didn’t play so much after the US Open, so I just wanted to make some more tournaments after Paris. I was feeling fresh, so I say, ‘Why not play?’ If I can make some points here, I can keep it all the year, and maybe that will help me be seeded in (ATP World Tour) tournaments next year. Every point I can take, I am just taking at the moment. Maybe I’m going to have my best (Emirates ATP Ranking) after this or something close. There are so many good things at the moment. Hopefully it’s going to continue like this next year."

JSM Challenger of Champaign-Urbana (Champaign, Illinois, U.S.A.): Top seed Adrian Mannarino (pictured right, photo credit: Alexis Casati) Zoppended the Cinderella run of 2012 Wimbledon doubles champion Frederik Nielsen, claiming the Champaign title 6-2, 6-2 on Saturday afternoon. Mannarino rallied from a set deficit in both the first and second rounds, en route to ending the five-year run of American champions at the tournament.

Meanwhile, on Friday, Nielsen sensationally saved six match points to overcome Denis Kudla in the quarter-finals.

A dominant force on the ATP Challenger Tour in 2014, Mannarino concluded the year with a 28-2 record and five titles, adding to his trophies in Manta, Segovia, Istanbul and Knoxville. He finishes tied with Gilles Muller for most titles on the circuit this year, just one shy of the all-time record for most in a season – set by Younes El Aynaoui in 1998 and Juan Ignacio Chela in 2001.

Mannarino: "I played really well and returned well from the beginning. I think Frederik was tired from his qualifying rounds and tried to play too fast and ended up making a few too many mistakes. Overall I was just solid.

"This tournament was special because it was the last one of the year and coming out with a win was really nice. I'll also get my best ranking next week.

"I haven't been doing anything special in order to get ready, but winning Knoxville last week gave me a lot of confidence. I also got a new coach six months ago which has helped me a lot."

It was Mannarino’s 11th ATP Challenger Tour title, extending his winning run in finals to six straight. He previously prevailed in Noumea in 2013 (d. Martin). The World No. 44 is coming off a career year, having reached his first ATP World Tour finals in Auckland and Bogota and first Round of 16 at a Masters 1000 event, in Indian Wells.

Challenger BNP Paribas (Noumea, New Caledonia): Top seed Adrian Mannarino of France lived up to the billing by defending his Noumea crown over Nikola Milojevic of Serbia, 6-3, 7-5. Mannarino didn’t drop a set throughout the week. The 28-year-old has excelled in Noumea throughout his career, having also prevailed in 2013. The 21-year-old Milojevic was also competing in his first Challenger final.

Open BNP Paribas Banque De Bretagne (Quimper, France): Top seed Adrian Mannarino lived up to his billing and delighted the local crowd with a 6-4, 6-4 win over eighth seed Peter Gojowczyk of Germany. Mannarino extended his win streak in Challenger finals to eight straight, having not lost a title match since 2013. The 28 year old now has 13 ATP Challenger Tour titles and picks up his second winner's trophy of 2017, having won this past month in Noumea, New Caledonia.

Gojowczyk was looking for his second Challenger title of the year, having prevailed this past month in Happy Valley.
