W tym sezonie Ramos spisywał się całkiem przyzwoicie, czego wynikiem jest awans do czołowej "40" rankingu. Oprócz finału w Casablance zaliczył też półfinały w Sao Paulo i Estoril oraz ćwierćfinały w Doha, Bastad i Hamburgu. Hiszpan przyzwoicie raprezentował się także w Indian Wells i w Miami, gdzie docierał do 3. rund. Niestety w Wielkich Szlemach udało mu się wygrać mecz tylko w US Open. Albert ma słabszą końcówkę sezonu, gdyż nie może już grać na ukochanych przez niego kortach ziemnych.

Albert Ramos-Vinolas prevailed in his 11th meeting with Pere Riba, claiming the Milan title.

Aspira Tennis Cup Trofeo CDI (Milan, Italy): The eight-week Italian swing hit the midway point with Albert Ramos-Vinolas winning his second Milan crown on Sunday. The third seeded Spaniard defeated top seed Pere Riba 6-3, 7-5 for the title in a clash of countrymen. It was his fifth triumph on the ATP Challenger Tour and first since prevailing in San Sebastian three years ago. Ramos previously won in Milan in 2011 (d. Korolev). He improves to 8-3 in his FedEx ATP Head2Head rivalry with Riba.

"For me this was a fantastic week. I like playing here in Milan where I won in 2011. There's a great atmosphere and I want to say thanks to all the people who came here. With Pere Riba we know each other very well since we were under 18. We played many matches and I already knew I had to play a difficult match. He changed his game in the second set, he became more aggressive but I was always focused on my game and I came back from 1-5 down with 6 games in a row.

"My next goal? I hope to get better and better every tournament, starting from the next one in Padova, but I don't want to put much pressure on myself."

AON Open Challenger (Genova, Italy): Former World No. 38 Albert Ramos-Vinolas has found a second home in Italy, claiming his second title in three finals on Italian soil this year. The Spaniard needed just 73 minutes to dispatch Mate Delic 6-1, 7-5 in Genova, for his sixth ATP Challenger Tour crown. Ramos won his first title in three years in Milan in June. For Delic, it was the Croat's second final after finishing runner-up to Simone Bolelli in Vercelli earlier this year. In total, 20,000 spectators attended the tournament at the Valletta Cambiaso.

Ramos-Vinolas: "It's really a pleasure to have won this tournament. I thank the public of Genoa which were extraordinary."

San Benedetto Tennis Cup (San Benedetto del Tronto, Italy): Albert Ramos-Vinolas joined Carreno Busta as Spanish champions this week on the ATP Challenger Tour, cruising to the San Benedetto title. The second seed did not drop more than four games in a set all week, earning a 6-2, 6-4 victory over wild card Alessandro Giannessi on Sunday. Ramos-Vinolas is the fifth Spaniard to triumph on the circuit this year, claiming his seventh title in 13 finals. The Barcelona native is also moving closer to a return to the Top 50 of the Emirates ATP Rankings, following a two-and-a-half year absence.

Ramos-Vinolas: “Italy is my second home. I won four Challengers here. I feel so welcome in Italy. San Benedetto is a very good place to stay: sea, sun, good food. Congratulations to Giannessi. We are friends. It’s not easy to play against a friend. I’ve played a very good tournament, I won it and I’m so happy”.”

Ramos-Vinolas Stuns Federer In Shanghai Opener

Spaniard records first Top 10 win to stun defending champ
What a way to get your first Top 10 win. Spanish qualifier Albert Ramos-Vinolas has stunned Roger Federer in the second round of the Shanghai Rolex Masters after beating the second seed 7-6(4), 2-6, 6-3 on Tuesday evening.
Going into the contest, the No. 70-ranked Ramos-Vinolas was 0-15 against Top 10 players and had won just two sets. But the 27-year-old Spaniard played fearless tennis as he shocked defending Shanghai champion Federer in just over two hours.
Federer failed to convert two break points in Ramos-Vinolas’ opening service game and would rue his missed opportunity as Ramos-Vinolas went on to sneak the first set in the ensuing tie-break.
The Swiss hit back strongly in the second set, breaking in the fifth and seventh games to level the match, but could not carry his momentum into the deciding set. Ramos-Vinolas earned a crucial break in the eighth game and went on to serve out victory to 30.
"I'm really happy to beat Roger Federer," said Ramos-Vinolas. "I didn't expect it during the match. After the second set I thought I would lose. But I played really good. I was very solid with my serve in the third set. I am very happy because it's the most important victory for me."
Federer was playing for the first time in three weeks, since helping Switzerland to a Davis Cup World Group Play-off victory over The Netherlands. The Basel native has already punched his ticket to the year-end Barclays ATP World Tour Finals and was looking to win his sixth title of the season this week.
Ramos-Vinolas, a quarter-finalist earlier this year in Auckland and Geneva, goes on to challenge Jo-Wilfried Tsonga for a place in the quarter-finals. The 16th-seeded Tsonga closed Tuesday’s play with a 6-3, 6-2 victory over Victor Estrella Burgos.
In an all-Croatian contest, Marin Cilic defeated rising star Borna Coric 6-1, 6-2 in just 62 minutes. The 2014 US Open champion lost just six points on serve as he won the pair’s first meeting.
Gilles Simon finished strongly to defeat qualifier Nikoloz Basilashvili 6-3, 4-6, 6-0 in one hour and 33 minutes. The 10th-seeded Frenchman reached the final in Shanghai last year (l. to Federer) and goes on to face Leonardo Mayer for a place in the third round.

Albert Ramos-Vinolas was a first-round winner at the Internazionali BNL d'Italia in Rome on Sunday, beating American Sam Querrey 6-4, 6-4. The left-hander did not drop serve and will face eighth seed Tomas Berdych in the second round.
Kevin Anderson made a successful return to clay in a 6-4, 7-6(5) win over Feliciano Lopez. The South African, sidelined due to injury since February, fired nine aces and landed 75 per cent of first serves to earn his second tour-level win of the year. He next faces Juan Monaco, who dismissed Steve Johnson 6-4, 6-4 in 73 minutes.
Benoit Paire will take on good friend Stan Wawrinka in the second round. The Frenchman advanced when Bernard Tomic retired three games into their first-round clash. Paire trails 6-2 in his FedEx ATP Head2Head rivalry with Wawrinka, but won their most recent meeting in Marseille this year.
Viktor Troicki improved to 16-10 on the year by defeating Teymuraz Gabashvili 6-4, 6-1 in just over one hour. Troicki hit eight aces and saved the lone break point faced. In the second round, he will attempt to score his second win in five attempts against Mutua Madrid Open semi-finalist Kei Nishikori.
