Pierwszy w karierze półfinał turnieju ATP (Chennai 2017) i kolejne 10 miejsc rankingowych do góry (76). Od sezonu ceglanego chyba na stałe Daniel wskoczy do gry na poziomie ATP Tour.

#NextGen Medvedev Reaches First ATP World Tour Final
Spoiler:
Russian to face Roberto Bautista Agut in Chennai final Daniil Medvedev advanced to his first ATP World Tour final in dramatic fashion on Saturday, saving one match point to defeat Dudi Sela 4-6, 7-6(2), 6-2 at the Aircel Chennai Open. The Russian #NextGenATP star will face Spain's Roberto Bautista Agut for the title. The 20-year-old Medvedev, No. 99 in the Emirates ATP Rankings, stormed back from an early deficit and would break Sela serving for the match at 5-4 in the second set. The Israeli held match point at 40/30, but Medvedev would reel off three straight points to break back. He would eventually force a decider and it was smooth sailing from there. Medvedev, who reached a pair of ATP Challenger Tour finals last year, claiming his maiden crown in Saint-Remy, France, prevailed after two hours and six minutes. He saved six of nine break points faced. Medvedev will face second seed Bautista Agut for the title on Sunday, in what will be their first FedEx ATP Head2Head clash. The Spaniard defeated Benoit Paire 6-3, 6-3 in 68 minutes, extending his perfect record over the Frenchman to 8-0. A rematch of the 2013 Chennai semi-finals, Bautista Agut claimed four of seven break points to earn the final berth. "Paire is a good player. I played a solid match and did the right things," said Bautista Agut. "It was under my control. I tried to play more calm and solid and make him hit a lot of balls. "It's nice to be in the final here again. I will prepare for the match and play my best tomorrow." Runner-up in Chennai in 2013 (l. to Tipsarevic), the World No. 14 will be appearing in his 11th ATP World Tour final. He went 2-2 in title matches last year, lifting trophies on the hard courts of Auckland and Sofia. "I have more experience now (than in 2013). It's good to be in the final again and I love to come back every year. I will fight tomorrow until the last point and we'll see how it goes."
